Connor Zitzer

Bio

Hi, I am Connor, a 20 year old student who is studying Nursing at San Jose State University. I am starting nursing at The Valley Foundation School of Nursing on San Jose States campus Fall 2024. Bodily functions and how the external and internal environments interact with each other is an interest of mine and this is why I want to pursue a career in health. Research, patient care, and advancement of current medicine has been passion of mine over the past few years and I am pursuing nursing in hopes to make a difference. When not in school, I am an active EMT working in Santa Clara County.  When I have free time I love to go hiking with my girlfriend, Aashvi, playing video games, and learning about interesting healthcare topics.

Education

Courses

I am proficient in many different subjects but I enjoy anatomy and physiology courses more than any of the others.

The courses that I am most knowledgeable about include: Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Nutrition for Health Professions, Public Speaking, English, Chemistryand Bacteriology.

Hum. Anatomy + Physiology

Although we were not allowed to take photos of once living objects at SJSU we work directly with specimen and open cadavers in order to study anatomy. In physiology we worked with our own bodies in order to determine functions and see how exactly our bodies work. We became knowledgeable about all parts and functions of the body in anatomy.

Public Speaking

In this course we learned how to become proficient at speaking to an audience. We worked with a conversationally styled speech that we can apply when we had to give an impromptu speech in future situations. We learned how to be more confident speakers and better collaborators.

Chemistry

In this course we worked hard to figure out the different ways in which our world is made based upon its chemistry. In this course we went in detail about the different states of matter, the periodic table, chemical reactions, oxidation + reduction, and more.

Nutrition for Health Professions

In this course we went in detail about all the different nutrients in the body and how they affect the body's homeostasis. We went in detail about all the chemical compositions of the macronutrients and the various types of carbs, lipids, proteins, and fats. We learned about our dietary needs for each of the macros and how to incorporate them into our diets.
