My Activities & Experience

Affordable Treasures (Cashier)

I have been working at Affordable Treasures located in Los Gatos California since I was 17 years old. Working at Affordable Treasures has given me an overlook over all the processes of a small business and how they work. I take great responsibility in my role as a matured employee. I am a great rule follower as well as a quick learner when it comes to new information. When a customer walks in I greet them and try to take care of all their needs. I can thoroughly describe options and provide support for those who are frustrated or in need of something fast. I am well organized and I am great at time management. When there is a project that needs to be completed I can finish it in both a quick and well-thought out manor. As a strong communicator and team player I have formed strong bonds with my coworkers and connect with each customer that walks through the door.

At Royal Ambulance I am learning how to be a better public service worker and discovering more about the medicinal field. Going from a cashier, to a ER Volunteer, to an EMT has shaped me into a customer service machine. Being an EMT has given new meaning to the terms empathy, driven, hard-working, and appreciation of life. I have learned from my customer service days that the customer is always right and this applies every day as an EMT. I not only have to serve a customer a product by getting them from point A to B safely, I also have to make it satisfactory. Being an EMT has thought me key personable skills in order to comfort, care, and support a patient during a very difficult time in their lives. I have developed new conversational skills, explaining all procedures before applying them, gesturing, how to overcome a language barrier, and much more in my short tenure just to name a few. I have learned a new drive and have loved coming into work every day I am scheduled. I have learned how to be hard-working extensively. Not only is the career physically draining lifting 300 lb patients, but it is also mentally draining dealing with a lot of peoples problems and trying to calm down any stressful situation. I also had never worked a night shift prior to starting at this company but learned to adapt to it. Adaptations have been vital towards my success as an EMT; Learning people are going through a tough time and just need an outlet, training to lift heavier patients, and reconfiguring my sleep schedule. With these newly found adaptations I am ready to conquer any obstacles in my way (within reason). Finally by hearing all the stories from patients whether they are going to hospice, coming home from an ED, or a pediatric pt with a broken limb, I have discovered an appreciation for life. It really is how you treat yourself that will get you through tough times and the toughest patients are always the ones with the best attitudes towards life and I have set new goals to be just as tough! EMT is most likely a bridge into my next tier of healthcare, nursing, and I am excited to learn even more as well as new intrapersonal skills along the way.

Volunteering

Good Samaritan Voulnteering (ER)

February 2023 -- January 2024

As an ER volunteer I gained experience working with patients in order to reduce confusion within the ER. This position included but wasn't limited to performing lab runs with administering basic tests, non-physical patient care (basic needs care), assistance with getting situated when entering the ER, cleaning beds as well as moving gurneys to rooms, and overall customer Service.  I had received a lot of experience from nurses on how they perform certain procedures such as starting an IV and was showed how to give meds through the same mechanism. I have learned about almost all the different tools/stocking materials that are available within the ED itself. I was responsible for making sure all carts (IV, Laceration, Pediatric, OBGyn, Urinary, etc.) were adequately stocked while simultaneously doing room cleanings and assisting in triage. Working alongside nurses, doctors, nurse practitioners, technicians, EMTs, Paramedics, and more had only made me more intrigued within the medical field. Within the ED, I had already learned a lot of insider information that I couldn't get from anywhere else and I am excited to continue learning about emergency medicine as a volunteer, an EMT, and any further medicinal advancement.

National Honor Society

January 2019 -- June 2022

This honors society involved tutoring students in need of help in subjects such as math and varied sciences. I learned how to teach a particular topic to someone in need of help. I formed a connection with students in order to help with their studies.

California Scholarship Federation

October 2017 -- June 2022

CSF is an honors foundation that helps support local foundations bring light to people's days. I helped fundraise, donate supplies, and clean up school campus as well as local parks.
